I was excited to be invited to share some insights from Mix & Match with Mavis Machirori at Genetics Engage, a public engagement platform with the aim of including communities underserved and underrepresented in genetic and genomic services.
In the full video, Mavis asked me about stem cell donation and transplants. We discussed how they work, but also how individuals and charities are participating in the work of extending this treatment option to patients of ethnic minority backgrounds. We discuss this incredible work, but also talk about some of the reasons why people might say “no” to engaging with donation.
